INVENTORY AND ECOLOGY OF AQUATIC INSECTS DEPREDATING LARVES OF THE MOSQUITO CULEX IN FOUR REGIONS OF COLOMBIA
Main Article Content
A survey on insect predators of mosquito larvae was carried out in four malaria-endemic areas in Colombia, between February and July of 1988. In the breeding sites, some physical and chemical parameters were studied and the structure of the community and the diversity, equity, dominance, and similarity indices were established. The occurrence of the insects in the four areas was also determined. In Caucasia the conductivity was important with the largest amount of specimens was Quibdó, and Barrancabermeja showed the lowest number. In four areas the diversity was low, and the major similarly index (0.94) was detected in the permanent breeding sites in Uraba.
