Ants from Colombia. IX: A new species of Lenomyrmex (Formicidae: Myrmicinae)

A new Myrmicinae ant species, Lenomyrmex inusitatus is described from workers taken from the rainforest in Kofan Territory along the Nariño-Putumayo border in southeastern Colombia. This is the fifth known species of Lenomyrmex and the first from northern South America east of the Andes. L. inusitatus can be distinguished from other congeners by its smooth and shiny mesosoma with propodeal spines, as well as foveolate-striate cephalic sculpture.
