This article explores the political context of the early nineteenth century in New Granada and the publication of the Brevísima Relacion de la Destruccion de Indias, printed by José María Ríos in 1813, considering that this book is a perfect element to understand and describe the structure of the political ideologies that were configured in the propaganda discourse that the elites promoted to base their claim to the independence of the Spanish metropolis
