FOCUS AND SCOPE

Nexus is an academic and artistic publication articulated with the Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Integrated Arts at the Universidad del Valle. Its editorial direction aims at publishing articles of empirical and theoretical research on social communication, design, performing arts, visual arts, music, and architecture, addressing works and themes that engage with the interests and explorations of faculty, students, alumni, and researchers dedicated to the arts.

At Nexus, we aim to maintain a permanent, open, and stimulating debate about our role as artist-researchers, about the tensions and points of articulation with education, cultural studies, and practices, and with other discussion scenarios where social mobilization, curiosity about nature and science, and political activism converge.

The publication is part of an ecosystem that includes two publications: on one hand, the academic journal, featuring research and reflection articles, and on the other hand, the platform and network, where we publish processes and works that move outside the academic research models: poetry, short stories, or graphic novels; architectural plans, technical scripts, or musical scores. For these contributions, we have a digital space called "Nexus Framework," currently composed of various channels where we experiment with formats and languages, in relation to the particularity of each submitted work.

Nexus is funded by the Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Integrated Arts at the Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia). Nexus does not resort to paid marketing and advertising strategies nor accepts advertising. It is a cost-free, peer-reviewed, and open-access publication. It is indexed in databases such as Latindex, Fuente Académica Premier, Biblat, GALE OneFile, MIAR, EBSCO, and JournalTocs. Nexus publishes articles in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese.
