This article provides a descriptive review of the literature related to the term ‘Radio University Public Interest in Colombia’, with the aim of providing a context about their origin and their characteristics. In accordance with resolution 0415 of April 23, 2010, college radio, by targeting its programming, are part of the radio public interest, these stations meet the communication needs of the state with citizens and communities. But independently of the legislation what is a radio public? What are its main characteristics? Why do some college radio in the country work with media licenses in the public interest? What literature has been written on the subject? These are some of the questions that aims to solve this review article.
