“Destellos de la negritud: Investigaciones caribeñas” comprises a collection of thirteen essays and conferences dealing with Puerto Rican studies which were offered during a twenty-five-year span by Marie Ramos Rosado Ph.D., professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, in Puerto Rico. The essays and conferences deal with a variety of aspects such as the contributions made by black Puerto Rican women which should be considered in black studies and feminism in the Caribbean. The essays denounce the absence of the black and mulato Puerto Ricans, especially women, in the official cultural, social, economic, political spheres and their absence in post-colonial studies.
