Editorial Process
Praxis Filosófica receives documents through the Open Journal System (OJS) (refer to the Submissions section). Upon receipt, an authorship certificate will be sent to the author, which they must sign. This certificate confirms that the text is unpublished and owned by the author. Praxis Filosófica does not accept texts that have been previously published or violate our plagiarism policies (refer to the About the Journal section). This certificate confirms that the author has submitted the document exclusively to Praxis Filosófica and will not submit it for publication elsewhere during the editorial process. The author must submit the properly filled-out certificate through the same system (OJS) or via email to revistapraxis@correounivalle.edu.co.
1. Initial Evaluation
Upon receipt of the authorship certificate, the document (article, review, translation, or interview) will be subject to an editorial review by the journal's editor. The text will be checked for consistency with the journal's themes and compliance with all the requirements of the authors' guidelines. This review will take a maximum of one month. Once the editor approves the document, the arbitration process will begin.
2. Arbitration
If the submitted document is an article, it will undergo an arbitration process. After the editor approves the document, it will be evaluated by at least two subject matter experts. The evaluation process may take between 3 to 6 months.
Praxis Filosófica conducts article evaluations using a 'double-blind' arbitration process. This means that articles are reviewed by at least two anonymous academic peers who are unaware of the author's identity. Upon receiving the evaluation results, the author remains unaware of the evaluators' identities.
The evaluator uses an assessment format provided by the journal's editorial team. This format is sent along with the arbitration request letter and an anonymised Word copy of the article. The evaluations analyze the argumentative and stylistic structure of the writing, providing the author with tools to enhance their research and gain new perspectives.
Arbitrators can render one of three verdicts for the article: publishable, not publishable, or publishable with modifications. The Editorial Committee or the Editor, on their behalf, will decide based on the respective reports from the evaluators whether to accept or reject the article.
The Editor will notify the author of the final decision within one month of receiving the evaluations. If the author needs to make corrections to their article, they will have one month to submit a final version of the manuscript that incorporates the peer reviewers' feedback and a report on the changes made. The deadline can be extended if communicated in advance. This revised version will be reviewed by either the editor or a reviewer to ensure that the author has considered the feedback from the peer reviewers.
Reviews, translations, and interviews do not undergo the arbitration and reviewer assignment phase. Once they pass the Editor's evaluation, they proceed directly to the style and layout review process.
3. Proofreading and layout
Once the document is approved for publication, it will undergo proofreading, markup, and layout. During these processes, the editorial team will remain in contact with the author in case additional information is needed regarding citations or metadata. Authors should be aware that once the article is approved for publication, the Editor may include it in the relevant issue according to the editorial content criteria of the journal. Therefore, it may not necessarily be published in the immediately following edition.
4. Publication and Dissemination
As soon as the documents have gone through all the previous stages, they will be published on the website of the journal using the Open Journal System. The journal will promote the publication through various electronic channels and social media. Furthermore, an email notification will be sent to the author upon publication. The author can share their publication on social media platforms using the assigned DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for the document.
