The following document will present a synthesis of the central ideas that Antonin Artaud argues in his work: The Theater And Its Double, to establish, in the discussion about art, the idea of the artist as a hero from an ontological perspective, which does not imply the sensitive representations of the figurative heroes of the traditional tragic works. In this new categorization, the artist is considered as providing three fundamental axes: first, the relationship spirituality-corporality; second, the notion of the crisis of culture as an essential factor in the constitution of a metaphysical art; and third, the idea of cruelty of art as a response to what the world presents.
