This article addresses the philosophical discussion concerning aspects underpinning Ancient Greece. It is shown that the fundamentals of this civilization cannot be frame worked in one sole aspect, but in multiple elements synthesized in two types of experiences: the experience of reason and empirical experience. To show the dialectic tension of these two types of experiences the rise of geometry is described with Thales of Miletus.
